I am Shirley De Jong and I live in Durbanville
Cape Town (originally from the UK).
Previously I studied International Folk dancing (with the Gillian Saffrey School of dance) in Cape town, where I received my Bronze and Silver from the International Folkdance Association UK.
When I first heard of “Country Line Dancing" as it was known back then, I was very keen to see what it was all about. I then started attending a local class and was soon helping out instructing the class ‘backwalling” and instructing in the absence of the instructor.
I have been linedancing since 1996. Besides having a teachers qualification with the International Dance TeachersAssociation (IDTA) in 2003, I am also a fully trained Instructor and medal test Examiner for the Best Western Dance Academy (BWDA) (UK) and have been the Academies S.A representative since 2007.
I run linedance classes ”Kenridge Kountry Kickers” for Improvers / Intermediates each Tuesday and Friday mornings in Kenridge and Durbanville. Absolute Beginner classes are started on a regular basis.
A list from some of the dances I have taught can be seen on the class and dance page.
Its a selection of good linedances some new, some not so well known but come recommended, and others not so new but still popular in classes and socials.
